Arrest as man left critical after Waterford collision

A man has been arrested following a collision involving a car and a motorcycle that left another man in a critical condition in Co Waterford yesterday evening. It happened at Monvoy Cross in Tramore at around 7.40pm. The driver of the car, a man in his 60s, was arrested at the scene and has been detained at a garda station in the southeast of the country. The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, was brought to University Hospital Waterford, where his condition is described as critical. No other injuries were reported. The road has been closed for a forensic examination with diversions in place. Gardaí have appealed for road users in the area who may have camera footage to make it available to them.
